Hello, I am Elena

I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Began

Moving to Spain wasn't in the plans for the long haul. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

Those initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, fresh routines, lofty expectations. Daily chores seemed tougher than they ought to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.

Why I Built RootBeaconLocker

Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to fill that gap — actionable guidance grounded in real life in Spain.

What This Site Represents (And Excludes)

This site IS:

  • Hands-on insights from living in Spain
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated only when real changes occur

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a resource from a tourism authority
  • Not a platform for sponsored reviews
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Forward

Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does learning. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue to document what we find.

If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

Elena
